A gateway to the Sarasota and Manatee counties, Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) is situated just 4 miles / 7 km to the northwest of downtown Sarasota and next to Ballentine Manor, Kensington Park, Matoaka and Whitfield. The airport is also some 10 miles / 6 km south of Bradenton, and close to Sarasota Bay and the acclaimed University of South Florida (USF at Sarasota Manatee), which is home to around 45,000 students.

With around ten airlines serving this facility to and from both domestic and international destinations, Sarasota Bradenton Airport has a two-level terminal and an average annual passenger throughput of more than one million. SRQ Airport also boasts some 15,000 monthly air operations during its busiest winter months, which is the region's main tourist season.


Getting to Sarasota and Bradenton is made easy by the US-301 highway, which runs close to the airport itself. In addition, there are two public bus services operated by the Manatee (MCAT) and Sarasota (SCAT) counties that run from just outside the Baggage Claim area for 12 hours a day. Many hotels in the area also provide courtesy shuttles, while Diplomat airport taxis are also available, linking destinations such as Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, Lido Key, Longboat Key and the affluent Oyster Bay area in southern Sarasota.
